Get out of your comfort zone.

Both motivation and anxiety are sub-sets of stress and this is an important fact. It has been found that when you get out of your comfort zone you are more motivated, creative and productive.

What is a person’s Comfort Zone?
Alasdair White gives a comfort zone definition in his research paper ‘From Comfort Zone to Performance Management’ (1):

“The comfort zone is a behavioral state within which a person operates in an anxiety-neutral condition, using a limited set of behaviors to deliver a steady level of performance, usually without a sense of risk.”

Another research study (2) found that anxiety improved the performance of mice, until a certain level was reached, at that point performance deteriorated.

Being at peak performance is about getting stressed enough to become motivated, but not so stressed you can’t go on.

Do something different today! Stepping outside of your zone is where you scale up your thinking and are the most creative.

Finding the right balance is key. Stress in the right amounts can be good for you.
